[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]I’ve become rather obsessed with Bonnie Prince Billy A.K.A Will Oldham , he is an amazing lyricist, I love how stripped and bare most of his songs are, his voice is very buckley-esque, and there’s also a hint of Bon Iver only without the harmonies.
This song is actually a cover of another artist’s song, but I absolutely adore it.
First the tide rushes in
Plants a kiss on the shore
Then goes out to sea
And the sea is very still once more
So I rush to your side
Like the oncoming tide
With one burning thought:
Will your arms open wide?
At last we’re face to face
And as we kiss through an embrace
I can tell, I can feel you are loved
You are really, really mine
In the rain, in the dark, in the sun
Like the tide at its ebb
I’m at peace in the web
Of your heart’s arms
Of your arms

And oh my dear
I have a good idea
Let’s lay these bones to rest
Build it all over start again
Coz I know
That if you dare to hope
That if you dare to try
To rebuild the pieces of your life
Then you’ll find
The things you held so dear
The things you held so close
Were never ever really yours
And what’s left
That vacuous empty shell
Is ready to be refilled
With all the love you should have had
And rip it up
Rip it all apart
This place that our parents built
We’ll let all burn down to the ground
Coz I’m tired of these suited lies
Of policies made to break
Words that you’ll never ever shake
We are nearly home
And we’re nearly home
And we’re nearly home
And we’re nearly home
And we’re nearly home
We’re nearly home
And we’re nearly home
And we’re nearly home
And we’re nearly home
And we’re nearly home
And oh my dear
I had a good idea
Let’s lay these bones to rest
Build it all over start again

Jump on the Yeasayer train.
I’ve always thought of them as a type of Passion Pit/Vampire Weekend hybrid, in my opinion, that’s an excellent musical hybrid.

The best moments in reading are when you come across something – a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things – that you’d thought special, particular to you. And here it is, set down by someone else, a person you’ve never met, maybe even someone long dead. And it’s as if a hand has come out, and taken yours.

I don’t understand why Cupid was chosen to represent Valentine’s Day. When I think about romance, the last thing on my mind is a short, chubby toddler coming at me with a weapon.
